What Is Olecranon Bursitis?
Olecranon bursitis is also known as “baker’s elbow,” or “Popeye elbow” or “student’s elbow.” Olecranon refers to the pointy bone in your elbow & Bursitis refers to inflammation of a part of your body called a bursa, which is a sac full of fluid. Olecranon bursa, reduces friction between the skin & the pointy bone in your elbow, which you can feel when you bend it. It involves swelling at the tip of the elbow, on the back of the arm. However the olecranon bursa normally provides a mechanism with which the skin can glide freely over the olecranon process, consequently the bursa prevents tissue tears.
