Cerebral palsy (CP) is a term used to describe neurological condition caused by brain damage and it is the most common form and movement disability of childhood.
It is a group of disorders that affect movement and muscle tone or posture; it’s hard to move certain parts of the body. It’s caused by damage that occurs to the immature brain as it develops, most often before birth. Damage to certain parts of the brain, voluntary or involuntary movements or both can be affected.
Cerebral palsy causes impaired movement associated with floppiness or rigidity of the limbs and trunk, abnormal reflexes, abnormal posture, involuntary movements or unsteady walking. People can have problems swallowing & commonly have eye muscle imbalance, in which the eyes don’t focus on the same object.
