Workplace assessment- Neck and arm pain can be a repetitive strain injury (RSI). Repetitive strain injuries are caused by repetitive movement causing muscular pains or problems with nerves, ligaments or joints. Often work related, the incidence of RSI has increased dramatically with the use of desktops or laptops, which needs only a limited range of movement. Other groups of working people can also be affected like – typists, musicians, shop staff and factory workers.

Physical therapists at SOS Physio Rehab are very well educated and experienced in treating the muscle, nerve, joint and ligament problems. After assessing your posture, workplace, lifestyle and patterns of work, we can suggest a treatment program. This may include stretching exercises, mobilization or electrotherapy, such as ultrasound, to speed up the treatment process.

If healing is delayed, RSI might take longer to clear up. We also provide information to help narrow down your risk. If you are experiencing an injury which you think might be an RSI, here we have some ideas you could try – but remember; this in no way replaces a proper examination or treatment:

  • Take a break: If you are suffering from RSI it really important to change whatever you are doing that is causing this problem.
  • A warm pack on your neck can reduce the pain: There are lots of specifically designed warm packs for the neck available in the market.
  • Try using your computer mouse with alternate hands.
